Since the popularity of cable machines is growing, we decided to extend the list. Let’s explore seven more exercise you can perform on the functional trainer, to make a total of ten.

Cable Row Squat

This exercise is performed with the cable adjusted to low position with a rope cable attachment. It is a compound exercise that engages legs, arms, core and back muscles. The exercise consists of a squat and bringing the cable attachment to your body at the hip height level.

Functional Trainer Exercises: Cable Biceps Curl

Biceps Curl is performed from the lower cable position. The movement is the same as with the biceps curl when you use the barbell. The short straight cable attachment works great for this exercise.

Overhead Triceps Extension

You can bring the variety to your triceps eworkout with this exercise. The starting position is standing with the functional trainer behind you, and the cable adjusted to high position. From above your head and the arms flexed in the elbow, you extend the arms in front of you straightening them. Then return to the starting position.

Triceps Kickback

Another great exercise for your triceps. With the cable adjusted at around your hip level, you stand facing the functional trainer with your upper body slightly bent towards the machine. You hold the cable attachment with one hand, your arm flexed in the elbow. Extend your arm behind you performing kickback.

Functional Trainer Exercises: Lat Pushdown

Exercises for your lats. Lat pushdown provides greater range of motion compared to lat pulldown. It is performed in a standing position. Using the overhand grip you must push the bar down toward your thighs. Additional bonus of the functional trainer – you can work your lats by performing pull-ups on the pull-up bar.

Cable Upright Row

The exercise for the shoulders. The cable is in the low position. Stand up with the arms straight and hold the handle with a pronated grip. Pull the handle high directly up the front of your body by driving your elbows high. Bring the handle up to your chest. Slowly lower the handle back to the starting position.

Functional Trainer Exercises: Cable Incline Chest Press

The variation of the bench press using the cable machine. Adjust the cable to the low position. Perform the bench press like you nornmally would with the dumbbells, but with the cable handles in your hands. The exercise develops the upper part of your pecs.
